What it is

A prompt is everything the model receives: your request, examples, attached documents and the system instructions set by the application. A clear goal, relevant context and an expected format make results more reliable.

Example

"Summarize this offer" gives a generic summary; "List the price, payment terms and penalties from this offer in a table" gives something you can use.

What can go wrong

Prompts can carry secrets (pasted passwords, client data) and can be manipulated by text hidden in documents — see prompt injection.

How to secure it

Don't paste secrets, keep credentials out of system instructions, and treat text from outside sources as untrusted.
