Hallucination
A fluent, confident answer that simply isn't true.
Basics path · 5 of 7
What it is
Language models generate plausible text, not verified facts. When information is missing, they may invent sources, numbers or quotes that look real. It follows from how the models work — it is not a rare bug.
Example
Asked for supporting case law, a model may cite a court ruling that does not exist.
What can go wrong
Wrong numbers or invented sources end up in reports, offers or code.
How to secure it
Ground answers in your documents (RAG) with citations, check results automatically where possible — tests, calculations, totals — and keep a human review for important outputs.
In Obsigen
In Titan mode, a task's result is verified before it reaches the user: tests decide, not agreement between models. About Obsigen AI
