Embeddings

Numbers that capture the meaning of text, so a computer can find content that means the same thing.

Basics path · 6 of 7

What it is

An embedding turns a piece of text (or an image) into a list of numbers. Texts with similar meaning end up close to each other, so you can search by meaning instead of by exact words.

Example

A search for "late delivery penalty" finds a clause about "liquidated damages for delay", although no words match.

What can go wrong

Embeddings are derived from your documents and can reveal parts of their content.

How to secure it

Protect them like the documents they come from: same access rules, same location, deleted when the source is deleted.
