What it is

An agent is a model working in a loop: it breaks a task into steps, calls tools, looks at the results and decides what to do next, until the goal is reached or it needs help. That is the difference between a chat answer and finished work.

Example

"Compare three supplier offers and prepare a recommendation" — the agent reads the files, builds a comparison sheet, checks the totals and writes the memo.

What can go wrong

Every tool an agent can use is a possible path for abuse; long runs can drift from the goal or loop without end.

How to secure it

Least-privilege tools, limits on steps and budget, a log of every action, and human approval for anything irreversible.
